In what promises to be the highlight of the 2008 ISC Tour, Indonesia's 32 best pro surfers will paddle out the channel from Padang-Padang Beach in Bali to take on Bali's most fearsome and notorious wave in the Rip Curl Cup Padang-Padang.
Known for its picturesque beauty, board-breakingly powerful thick lipped tubes, and back-raking razor sharp coral reef, the honor of paddling out to take on this ferocious dragon in a private competition setting is one reserved for a selected few each year.
And what catapults this years Rip Curl Cup into the position of being the most highly contested and memorable event in history is that the 2008 Rip Curl Cup will not only be an ISC 6-star Prime event with double the prize money and extra ISC Championship points, the winner will also receive a wild card entry in the 2008 ASP Rip Curl Pro Search event to be held in an as yet undisclosed "Somewhere" location! This will also be the first time for an Indonesian surfer to ever compete in a WCT event.
