- Go indoor immediately. Take a bath in cool water if applicable. By doing this, your body temperature will decrease, and you are able to control the damage. Do not use icy water or ice at this stage, otherwise you may not bear the extreme pain. You are plan to have some soft treatment and ice is simply too hard. 20 minutes is OK to first aid cool water bath. If you are still in pain, you can take cool water bath five times daily afterward. Again don't over do it.
- Find a soft, loose-fitting pajamas to lay down yourself gently and slowly. A soft bed is also good to reduce the pain. If your arms and legs hurt, you should keep them elevated. And a chilled, damp tea bag will help to reduce the pain of eyelids as well. If possible, find a aloe vera leaf or 100 percent aloe vera gel to put on your sunburned skin. Do it very gently and carefully to snooth the pain and promote healing. Do not use butter or heavy ointments on the skin. It just make things worse.
- Taking aspirin or ibuprofen will help to ease the pain and stinging. But that's only OK for adults. Never give aspirin to children.
- Avoid the direct sun exposure before your are 100% cured. Wear some protective clothing and a hat if you have to go out.
- If you have blister bigger than your thumb, or you experience some fever. chills, or weakness, do call your doctor or go to the hospital to look for help.
